My magazine production days began in November of 2007 with Barb Van Sickle and Active Interest Media. She brought me in to process images and ads in-house for Backpacker Magazine. My first issue was a gear guide with 300+ images to process.

The ads were easy for me, 13 years at a printing company gave me the chops to put me at the EXPERT/PRO level in Prepress before coming to magazine production but what was new and exciting was the opportunity to collaborate with the many Art Directors, in-house Photographers and Image Editors. We worked together to perfect the look and feel of the magazines to Active Interest Media’s unique, high quality and standards. It wasn’t long before I was in demand to help level up the quality and standards of other titles in the Healthy Living Group (Yoga Journal and Clean Eating), Mountain Group (Ski Magazine) and Equine Groups (American Cowboy, Horse & Rider and Dressage Today).
